A Girl Who Grows Up On Trails of Solo Travel

Image
According to the general understanding, travel is to go from one place to another or undertake a journey from one place to another for different reasons. Be it leisure or any personal or personal needs. For me, travel is transcending. It is far more than its literal meaning of physical movement. Travelling is experiencing something new. Travel is religion and travelling seems to be more of a spiritual journey without religion. People who have never been anywhere alone describe their solo traveling as a life changing moment as it offers a platform to indulge yourself fully. I feel solo travelling has the power to bring about a complete change. It helps in raising questions inside me and sometimes when I do not get any answer, I consider no answer is the real answer. Solo travelling gives me the confidence to judge myself and identify who I am. To me solo travelling is transformative and eternally enriching. Counting My Blessings!!!! Few years back, I had never thought of living life on ...

An Ode to Beach.....

Dear Ocean Whenever I came closer to you, you walked the extra steps to appease me. You would drench me, push me, make my clothes wet, leave my limbs smeared with sand, ruffle my hair and in many other ways you made me realise that you are the one. On occasions you teased me by taking away my slippers and giving them back. In Goa, you treated me differently, you had other elevated things in Velankanni whereas in Dhanushkodi, you served me the completeness I was looking for weeks, months and years.   There, you played as my soul mate, beloved, comforter, therapist, counsellor, anchor, and endlessly in that order. I do not want to say thank you, but want to remain drowned in that feeling of being thankfulness. Before the trip I never imagined I would bump into my best place in the world. Oh My Dear Ocean!!!!!! Thank you for giving me the chance to stay away from all the worldly treasures; people or technology, family or friends. It actually feels incredible to stay away from th...

Heady World Through Flapping Wings

Dear Me and You: Travel is the healthiest addiction…. Travel is to live….. Travel because it is one of the best teachers of yours….. Likewise I come across numbers of quotes and answers when I interact and come across jaunty and jolly folks having similar tastes. Travel means different things to different faces. You know what???? I travel because I consider travel as my perfect therapy. Over the years it has transformed me and has created a different version of ME For some, travel would be an adventure or an opportunity to visit friends and family.   For few, it may be considered as stepping out of comfort zones and embarking on a new journey.     For all the glees and wonders of traveling, there have been number of times I have ended up waking at the first flush of the morning muttering, “Why the hell did I book myself into this God-early flight?”               ...

Up & Close With Buddhism In India’s Little Tibet

Image
When I visited Majnu Ka Teela in February this year, the little Tibetan enclave in Delhi left me with lot of questions than answers. My curiosity to know a little more about Buddhism and the Buddhist culture broke into multiple pieces of unpalatable impressions. The experience was far removed from what I had fondly envisioned. May be the incomplete experience was the pull that drew me to the Little Tibet in Mecleodganj, instead of my plans for Ladakh or Spiti Valley. Understanding the world view of the second generation of the Tibetan Diaspora engaged my thoughts. The trip happened in the first week of October. Where the entire country was engrossed in celebrating Durga Puja I was happily in the folds of the snow-clad mountains of Dharmshala. This was the 9 th trip of the year and I was at the striking distance of my resolution of completing 12 escapes even though I was reminded of the short time I had before the year ends. After I boarded the Garib Rath trai...
